Louie joined MechTronic in August 2022 as a Fitter. Since then, he has actively contributed to the production of a diverse range of products, including man lids, sight glass kits, Add Tanks, and the company’s flagship electronic metering system, OptiMate. His involvement spans the entire production process, culminating in the intricate wiring of the OptiMate system.

Recently, Louie has deepened his engineering expertise through valuable hands-on experiences. He has visited tank builders and assisted MechTronic’s engineers in resolving truck-related issues. Furthermore, he has accompanied Ben, our Sales Engineer, on customer training visits, gaining invaluable insights into how OptiMate benefits drivers in real-world applications.

When asked about his favourite aspects of the role, Louie expressed his appreciation for the daily variety: “I enjoy the diversity of products I work on each day. Building the OptiMate systems has been particularly rewarding, as it involves a multitude of components, and it’s incredibly satisfying to see a complete product at the end. The customer site visits with Ben have also been highly beneficial, allowing me to witness firsthand how OptiMate, the product I’ve helped create, enhances the drivers’ experience.”

Looking Ahead:

Louie enthusiastically shared his future aspirations: “I’m thoroughly enjoying my apprenticeship. While I attend college one day a week, the practical experience I gain weekly significantly enhances my learning. In the coming months, I will continue to expand my knowledge within the company and actively seek out real-world engineering experiences to further refine my skills and prepare for a successful career.”
