The Importance of meter calibrations

Oil flow meters are delicate instruments and HMRC state that: “equipment must be properly maintained and calibrated in order to meet at all times the specified minimum accuracy requirements for the type of measurement to which it is applied.” It is a requirement that records should be kept of maintenance and calibration work and it is generally recommended (although not law) that all metering systems are calibrated on a yearly basis to ensure that accuracy continues to be delivered.

Annual calibrations can avoid heavy stock losses for operators and with fluctuating oil prices, as little as a 1% loss of product can amount to a significant financial loss.

What do we do as part of your meter calibration?

MechTronic supply class-leading metering systems, our turbines have guaranteed repeatability levels of 0.1% and are MID approved.

Each year our service contract holders are entitled to a yearly meter calibration as part of their contract. Our service engineers are approved verifiers and adhere to national standards and will calibrate the tankers meter and provide the relevant certification documentation.

As part of our service, contract holders benefit from a full tanker health check. We will check your system and replace any components as required.

You can rest assured that following our health check and meter calibration service, your tanker is delivering accuracy and is fully compliant.

Don’t have a service contract?

Don’t worry if you don’t hold a contract, if you are based on the UK mainland just contact our service team and we can arrange an engineer to come to your site!
