Apprenticeships: A launchpad for success

At MechTronic, we believe apprenticeships offer exciting opportunities for young people. Take Brad Wilkie, our Managing Director, for example. His journey began some 17 years ago as a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice. Through a combination of dedicated on-the-job training and continued professional development, Brad successfully climbed the career ladder, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director in September 2022.

This commitment to nurturing talent extends beyond Brad. Ben Wilkie and Ryan Parr, both successful members of the MechTronic team, also started as apprentices at MechTronic. In addition, Ben Firth started his engineering apprenticeship at a local tank builder and has since progressed his 18-year career to a Sales Engineer at MechTronic. Apprenticeships can serve as a launchpad for fulfilling careers, providing a platform to develop valuable skills and advance within a company.

During National Apprenticeship Week 2025, we aim to inspire other young people to consider apprenticeships as a viable career path. By sharing the success stories of our current apprentices, Alfie and Louie, we hope to encourage both young people and employers to embrace the value of apprenticeships in developing the skills of tomorrow’s workforce.
