Ryan has been a driver for 7 years now having started his career at Leighton Oils which is owned by Ribble Fuel Oils, part of the NWF Fuels group. He has been using the electronic metering system OptiMate for a year now, having previously used MechTronic’s traditional metering system, MaxFlow.
We asked Ryan about his experience of using OptiMate
“I have been using OptiMate for around a year now and I have found that it does certainly speed the job up day to day, the automatic multi compartment changes and automatic line changes make a massive difference.
“When you are making between 10 and 20 deliveries a day, it can be a challenge to get through your work. However, I have found that deliveries are quicker with OptiMate and as a result, I can get through to more customers to ensure they have the fuel they need.”
As a driver, what are the main benefits that OptiMate provides?
“Not only does OptiMate save time during deliveries, but I like the fact that it also stops you from selecting the wrong pot and stops you from contaminating a delivery. As drivers we are busy and sometimes when people are under pressure or working a long day, there is the potential to select the wrong pot, but OptiMate stops that, which is excellent – as a driver it gives you that extra reassurance, it’s great to know that OptiMate has your back.”
How does OptiMate differ to MaxFlow?
“I used MaxFlow for several years and whilst it was a good system to use, OptiMate just offers more especially in terms of preventing fuel contamination and in terms of the speed of a delivery. The fact I can stay at the point of delivery whilst line changes and compartment changes occur automatically, without me having to return to the truck, it really does speed up your delivery times.”
Would you recommend OptiMate to others?
“Yes absolutely, the fact it’s easy to use once you have been shown and the automatic functions really do speed up deliveries. The menu is also simple to use, with quick scrolling options on the menus.
“The support from MechTronic has also been excellent. When any issues have come up, the guys have always been friendly and helpful, and any issues have been resolved quickly.”
