In January 2020, Tate Oil took delivery of the first of four OptiMate trucks.
Paul Smith, MBA Tech IOSH Operations, Safety and Compliance Manager at Tate Oil said: “Brad came to our site to offer driver training and as part of this process, he spent a day with myself on the road, undertaking deliveries.
“This hands-on approach proved to be highly useful, as during my training Brad demonstrated the automatic line change process and the multi compartment delivery, which is a huge benefit to our operation, especially when we are delivering fuel and can be up a ladder or 150ft away from the truck. Not only does this automatic process save time, it also provides a safer working environment as it reduces the number of times that our drivers must climb up and down a set of ladders.
“Brad also demonstrated how to enter the delivery pre-set volume on the ProControl 3 remote from inside the cab, this is a useful function as the delivery information is all to hand. Coupled with the loading plan facility, OptiMate is proving to be a very efficient delivery system.”
Further investment in the Tate Oil fleet
Paul continues: “Covid-19 caused some delay to our initial roll-out plan but towards the end of 2020 we took delivery of another three OptiMate’s. We have been using OptiMate since early 2020 and it’s fair to say, the drivers and I have been impressed with how easy the system is to operate, feedback from the drivers is positive and we are pleased with the service provided by MechTronic.”
